Chikusenso is an established "Onsen Ryokan" (hot spring hotel) which used to serve the Royal Family of Japan. The Group completed a major renovation to transform it into the first international hot spring and spa resort in the area. The renewed Chikusenso Resort and Spa was re-opened in April 2010 to serve local and overseas guests.

Chikusenso is situated in the Mount Zao National Park next to Sendai City. Sendai is one of the largest metropolitan cities in the northeastern region of Japan. It is about 300 kilometers north of Tokyo and is a popular tourist destination.
